Development of Instrumentation and Techniques for Highest Energy ground-based Gamma-Ray Astronomy
After the very successful H.E.S.S. experiment a new generation of ground-based gamma-ray telescopes are under development. The current decade will therefore be a crucial time for gamma ray astronomy as the new SWGO (Southern Wide-field Gamma-ray Observatory) and CTA (Cherenkov Telescope Array) will present the scientific community with increased coverage and quality for observations of the gamma-ray sky in the southern hemisphere. My aim as a PhD student is to contribute to instrumentation in both of these projects. This especially involves design and calibration of both software and hardware.
