The Intergalactic Metal Enrichment History of the Universe Induced by the First Stars

The search for the first stars (Pop III) has been unsuccessful until today. This dissertation project is concerned with the reasons why the Pop III stars elude from observation and where they could be found instead. It explores the birth environments of Pop III stars, and traces their metal ejecta after the supernova explosion beyond the time when metal-enriched stars form. Therefore, the parameters of the Pop III progenitor mass, explosion energy and the influence of the cosmic streaming velocity are studied in detailed hydrodynamic simulations.
